Appointments to the Center for Advanced Study, Urbana Associates 1 (8) On the recommendation of the director of the Center for Advanced Study, and with the concurrence of the dean of the Graduate College, the interim chancellor at Urbana has recommended the following appointments of associates in the Center for Advanced Study for the academic year 1988-89 and for the program of research or study as indicated in each case. FRANCINE D. BLAU, professor of economics and in the Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations, for one semester, to carry out research on the economic analysis of maternal employment and child development. DONALD M. GINSBERG, professor of physics, for two semesters, to carry out research on high-temperature superconductivity. DAVID G. GOODMAN, associate professor of East Asian and Pacific Studies, for two semesters, to carry out research and writing on the subject, "Dealing with Japanese Anti-Semitism: A Creative Response to a Problem in U.S.-Japan Relations." JOHN W. HILL, professor of music, for two semesters, to carry out research and writing on "Early Roman Monody at the Court of Cardinal Montalto." ICKO IBEN, J R . , professor of astronomy, for two semesters, to write a textbook on stellar structure and evolution. BRAT B. KACHRU, professor of linguistics and director of Division of English as a
