Head, Department of Anthropology, Urbana

(8) The chancellor at Urbana-Champaign, after consultation with the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has recommended the appointment of Thomas J. Riley, presently associate professor of anthropology and associate dean in the Graduate College, as head of the Department of Anthropology beginning August 21, 1986, on an academic year service basis at an annual salary of $38,000. Dr. Riley will continue to hold the rank of associate professor on indefinite tenure. He will succeed Professor Norman E. Whitten, Jr., who asked to be relieved of this administrative assignment.
