and professor of microbiology and immunology on indefinite tenure, effective July 1, 1979, on a twelve-month service basis, at an annual salary of $55,000. Dr. Cohen will succeed Dr. Truman O. Anderson who became executive dean of the College of Medicine effective July 1, 1977. Dr. Henry Jeffay has served as acting dean. The recommendation is made with the advice of a consultative committee 1 and is supported by the Executive Committee of the School. The vice president for academic affairs concurs. H e a d , Department of G e r m a n , Chicago Circle (8) The dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has recommended to the chancellor at Chicago Circle the appointment of Dr. Leroy Shaw, presently professor of German and acting head of the department, as head of the Department of German, beginning September 1, 1979, on an academic year service basis, at an annual salary of $40,775. Dr. Shaw will continue to hold the rank of professor of German on indefinite tenure. The nomination of Professor Shaw is supported by a consultative committee 2 and by the faculty of the department. The chancellor has approved the recommendation, and the vice president for academic affairs concurs. I recommend approval. H e a d , Department of Physical Education, Chicago Circle (9) The dean of the College of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Chicago Circle has recommended to the chancellor the appointment of Wilma J. Pesavento, presently associate professor of physical education and acting head of the department, as associate professor of physical education on indefinite tenure and head of the department, beginning September 1, 1979, on an academic year service basis, at an annual salary of $30,000. Dr. Pesavento will replace Professor Helen Heitmann who resigned the headship on September 1, 1976.
