ANNUAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

OF THE

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

February 2 1 , 1 9 7 9

[As recorded below, the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees, scheduled for January 17, 1979, was cancelled due to inclement weather.]

T h e annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in Chicago Room C, Chicago Illini Union, Medical Center campus, Chicago, Illinois, on Wednesday, February 21, 1979, beginning at 10:00 a.m. President George W. Howard I I I called the meeting to order and asked the secretary to call the roll. T h e following members of the board were present: Dr. Edmund R. Donoghue, Mr. William D. Forsyth, Jr., Mr. Ralph C. H a h n , Mr. George W. Howard I I I , Mr. Robert J. Lenz, Mr. Earl Langdon Neal, Mrs. Nina T. Shepherd, Mr. Paul Stone, Mr. Arthur R. Velasquez. Governor James R. Thompson was absent. T h e following nonvoting student trustees were present: Miss Venus D. Kooper, Chicago Circle campus; Mr. Paul A. Sobotka, Medical Center campus; and Mr. Charles S. Watson. Urbana-Champaign campus. Also present were President John E. Corbally; Dr. Peter E. Yankwich, vice president for academic affairs; Chancellor Joseph S. Begando, Medical Center campus; Chancellor William P. Gerberding, Urbana-Champaign campus; Chancellor Donald H. Riddle, Chicago Circle campus; Mr. David Landman, university director of public information; and the officers of the board, Dr. Ronald W. Brady, comptroller (also vice president for administration for the University) ; Mr. James J. Costello, university counsel; Mr. R. R. Manchester, treasurer; and Dr. Earl W. Porter, secretary. 163
