Amendment of Bylaws, Athletic Association of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

(2) T h e bylaws of the Athletic Association of the University of Illinois at UrbanaChampaign provide that thirteen members of the Board of Directors are to be elected annually by the Board of Trustees at the March meeting and that "the members elected shall take office immediately upon election . . . . " This provision has resulted in some inconvenience since it has been traditional for directors to serve until the annual meeting of the Athletic Association, the last Friday in April as provided in the bylaws. Therefore, for a brief period, there are both new and old directors serving on the board. T o clarify the situation, the Board of Directors of the Athletic Association on October 20, 1978, approved the adoption of the following amendment subject to further action of the Board of Trustees (new language is italicized; deletions are in brackets): Article VI, Section 1 Section 1. T h e board shall consist of thirteen members to be elected annually by the trustees at their March meeting upon recommendation of the chancellor and the president, seven from members of the faculty of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and six graduates of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign who are members of the Alumni Association of the University of Illinois. T h e members elected shall take office [immediately upon election] at the annual meeting of the Board of Directors and for the term indicated by the trustees. T h e chancellor at the Urbana-Champaign campus has recommended approval of the amendment. I concur.

On motion of Mrs. Rader, this amendment was approved. Dean, Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine, College of Medicine, Medical Center

(3) T h e chancellor at the Medical Center has recommended the appointment of Dr. Phillip M . Forman, presently acting dean, as dean of the Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine, College of Medicine, and professor of clinical pediatrics and clinical neurology on indefinite tenure, effective December 13, 1978, on a twelvemonth service basis, at an annual salary of $63,500. Dr. Forman will succeed Dr. Bernard Sigel who resigned from the deanship effective July 19, 1978, to become a professor of surgery in the Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine.
