Elevated walkways connect all the buildings at the second-story level. These walks create an exciting sense of rising above the surrounding environment as well as provide ample circulation space for an area which is often densely populated. Trees on the ground level give needed informality. Solid granite is used for the walkways since it is the only material permanent and sturdy enough to resist snow and ice removal and changes in temperature on the exposed surfaces. The monumental scale of the total design is reiterated by the heavv chain railing.
