BOARD OF TRUSTEES

KAISER AND GOURDIER INTEREST PAID

Mr. Trees, for the Finance Committee, reported for record that the interest on the Kaiser and Gourdier mortgages (see page 381) was paid in November.

SHELTON NOTES

Mr. Trees made a statement concerning an offer to settle the Shelton notes, received as a part of the Babcock Trust. On motion of Mr. Barr, the Finance Committee was authorized to make the best possible settlement for these notes.

RELATION OF UNIVERSITY TO ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

Mr. Trees, for the special committee appointed to consider the relation of the University to the Athletic Association, made a report of progress.

BUSINESS ORGANIZATION

Mr. Trees, for the special committee on the business organization of the University, made a report of progress.

DATE OF JANUARY MEETING

On motion of Mr. Trees, it was voted to hold the January meeting in Chicago on January 23, 1934.

APPOINTMENTS MADE BY THE PRESIDENT

The Secretary presented for record a list of appointments made by the Acting President of the University.

Aspern, Dorothy, Stenographer and Clerk in the Department of Chemistry, for nine months beginning December 1, 1933, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission, at a cash compensation at the rate of eighty dollars ($80) a month. (November 14, 1933) 1 Brown, Fred R., Professor of Military Science and Tactics, beginning December 11, 1933, and continuing until September I, 1934, at a cash compensation of eight hundred fifty-five dollars ($855) a year. (December 19, 1933) Carey, Clair Martin, Assistant in Obstetrics and Gynecology, in the College of Medicine, for nine months beginning December 1, 1933, without salary. (November 28, 1933) Carrigan, Honora, Dispensary Nurse in the College of Medicine, for nine months beginning December 1, 1933, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission, at a cash compensation of one thousand six hundred twenty dollars ($1620) a year. (November 28, 1933) Collins, Eunice, University Library Assistant in the School of Journalism, on one-half time, for nine months beginning December 1, 1933, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission, at a cash compensation at the rate of sixty-two dollars fifty cents ($62.50) a month. (November 14, 1933) Dreyer, Irving, Assistant in Pathology, in the College of Medicine, on onefifth time, for five months beginning J a n u a r y I, 1934, at a cash compensation at the rate of forty dollars ($40) a month. (December 19, 1933) Fisher, H e n r y B., Jr., Special Research Assistant in Chemistry, on onefourth time, for eight months beginning November 1, 1933, at a cash compensation at the rate of thirty dollars ($30) a month.
