RETIRING ALLOWANCE MRS. ALICE V. HAMILTON (6) A recommendation that the retiring allowance of Mrs. Alice V. Hamilton, former secretary to the Assistant Dean of the College of Agriculture, be increased from $823, as reported to the Board on July 10, 1933 (Minutes, page 283), to $841, which is the amount to which she is entitled. O n m o t i o n of M r . B a r r , t h i s r e c o m m e n d a t i o n w a s a d o p t e d . DEATH BENEFIT F. E. CRUMP (7) A report of the death on August 7, 1933, of Mr. F . E. Crump, laborer in the physical plant division, who had been employed since July 15, 1914. T h e Comptroller has paid his designated beneficiary the sum of $848.43, which was the death benefit payable under the rules of the Board and the terms of his employment.

This report was received for record.

AUTOMOBILE PERMIT FEES (8) A recommendation that the fee of $2.00 charged each undergraduate filing an application for permission to drive an automobile—authorized by the Board on September 28, 1932 (Minutes, page 102),—be changed to 50 cents. T h e purpose of the fee is to cover the cost of license plates, clerical help, and incidental expense in handling the applications for automobile permits.

On motion of Mr. Blair, this reduction was authorized.

FEES IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION (9) A recommendation that fees for physical education courses in skating, for the use of the rink, be established as follows: Physical Education for Women No. 43 $3.00 Physical Education for Men No. 34 2.25 The difference in fees is due to the fact that women's classes will use the rink more than the men's. O n m o t i o n of D r . M e y e r , t h e s e f e e s w e r e a u t h o r i z e d . FEE FOR SHORT COURSE IN CLAY WORKING AND CERAMICS (10) A recommendation from the H e a d of the Department of Ceramic Engineering and the Dean of the College of Engineering that a fee of $7.00 a person be authorized for the short course in clay working and ceramics which will be offered in January by the Department.

On motion of Mr. Barr, this fee was authorized.

AGREEMENT WITH BALTIMORE AND OHIO RAILROAD COMPANY FOR RAIL TESTS (11) A report of the execution during the late summer of an agreement with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company for certain experiments and tests on the Company's line between Dayton and Lima, Ohio, in connection with the research work being conducted by the Engineering Experiment Station to discover means and methods for the detection of transverse fissures and other defects in rails. This agreement provided for the purchase of public liability, property damage, and employees' compensation insurance to protect the University fully against any claims for damages. This is not a new project and the agreement was simply with the Railroad Company for the use of its tracks. All of the costs of these tests are paid from funds provided for rail investigations by the American Railway Association and the American Railway Engineering Association.

On motion of Dr. Meyer, the execution of this agreement was approved.
