Barr, Mr. Barrett, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Grigsby, Mrs. Hopkins, Dr. Noble, Mr. Trees, Mr. Williams; no, none; absent, Mr. Emmerson.

DEATH BENEFIT OF MRS. EMMA PORTER

(7) I recommend that $270 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to pay the death benefit of Mrs. Emma Porter, laborer in the Physical Plant, whose death occurred on August 15, 1932, and that the Comptroller be authorized to make payment to the designated beneficiary in accordance with the rules of the Board and the terms of employment of the deceased. On motion of Mr. Trees, this payment was authorized and the appropriation was made as recommended by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mr. Barrett, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Grigsby, Mrs. Hopkins, Dr. Noble, Mr. Trees, Mr. Williams; no, none; absent, Mr. Emmerson.

APPROPRIATION FOR HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT

(8) A report that the Comptroller was authorized to spend $2300 from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the purchase of supplies and furniture replacements for the McKinley Hospital. These supplies and equipment had to be ordered in the summer so that they would be available for the opening of the Hospital in the fall. I request that this action be confirmed and that an appropriation of $2300 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for this purpose. On motion of Dr. Noble, the President's action was confirmed and the appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mr. Barrett, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Grigsby, Mrs. Hopkins, Dr. Noble, Mr. Trees, Mr. Williams; no, none; absent, Mr. Emmerson.

SPECIAL APPROPRIATION FOR THE COLLEGE OF LAW

(9) A recommendation that $400 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to the College of Law, to provide for the use of space for student notes and comments in the journal of the Illinois Bar Association for the current year, contingent on the raising of a like amount by the College of Law from private sources. On motion of Mr. Blair, this arrangement was authorized but without the condition requiring the raising of funds from outside sources, and an appropriation of $800 was made by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mr. Barrett, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Grigsby, Mrs. Hopkins, Dr. Noble, Mr. Trees, Mr. Williams; no, none; absent, Mr. Emmerson.

LABORATORY FEE IN CHEMISTRY

(10) A recommendation that a laboratory fee of $6.00 be established in Chemistry 7, a new general survey course in chemistry, beginning September 1, 1932. On motion of Mrs. Hopkins, this fee was authorized.

AUTOMOBILE PERMIT FEES

(11) A recommendation that a fee of $2.00 be charged each undergraduate filing an application for permission to drive an automobile. The purpose of the fee is to cover the cost of license plates, clerical help, and incidental expense in handling the applications for automobile permits. On motion of Dr. Noble, this fee was authorized.

FEES FOR COURSES IN UNIVERSITY HIGH SCHOOL

(12) A recommendation that the following fee be established for students in the University who register for work in the University High School: Students registered in the University who also register for work in the University High School shall pay, in addition to their regular fees in the University,
