O n motion of M r . Trees, the original recommendation of President Chase, that the payment for the services be charged one-half to the Carter-Pennell fund and one-half to the other trust funds of the University, was approved, on the ground that all trust funds of the University were benefited by the results of M r . Hall's work. This action was taken by the following vote: Aye, M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r . Barrett, Mrs. Grigsby, Dr. Noble, M r . Trees; no, none; absent, M r . Rlair, M r . Emmerson, Mrs. Hopkins, M r . Williams. RELEASE OF AGRICULTURAL EXPERIMENT FIELDS (2) A report that the agricultural experiment fields at Spring Valley, LaMoille, and Palestine have been released and the deeds conveying these properties back to the donors recorded; and that the cancelation of the lease held by the University on the experimental field at Odin has been accepted by the owner. This report w a s received for record. APPOINTMENT TO PLYM SCHOLARSHIP (3) A recommendation from the Plym Committee that Mr. James E. Branch, instructor in the Department of Architecture, and a graduate student in the University, be appointed to the Ninth Plym Foreign Scholarship in Architectural Engineering and Mr. A. O. Myers, a graduate of the Class of 1930, as alternate in case Mr. Branch is unable to accept. This recommendation was adopted. APPOINTMENTS TO ALLERTON TRAVELING SCHOLARSHIPS (4) A report that Messrs. Thaddeus Glaza and Henry P. Tideman have been appointed to the two Allerton American Traveling Scholarships for the summer of 1932. This report was received for record. APPOINTMENT OF EDWARD B. McGUINN TO BOARD O F E X A M I N E R S IN A C C O U N T A N C Y (5J A recommendation from the Committee on Accountancy that Mr. Edward B. McGuinn, resident partner of Haskins and Sells of Chicago, be appointed a member of the Board of Examiners in Accountancy for three years beginning July 1, 1932. O n motion of Dr. Noble, this appointment was made. ADMISSION OF HIGH-SCHOOL GRADUATES WITH SUPERIOR SCHOLARSHIP R E C O R D S (6) The University Senate recommends the adoption of the following special provision for the admission to the University of high-school graduates with superior scholarship records: The Registrar is authorized to admit, without adhering to the usual subject requirements, graduates of accredited secondary schools whose general scholarship rank is in the upper ten per cent of their graduating class. Such graduates need present only such specific high-school courses as are prerequisite to University courses in the curriculum they desire to enter. O n motion of M r . Trees, this recommendation was approved. APPROPRIATION FOR DENTAL BUILDING BONDS (7) A report from the Comptroller that an appropriation of $48400 should be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to retire the bonds outstanding against the College of Dentistry building in Chicago which mature on July I, 1932. There is no State appropriation against which this item can be charged. O n motion of M r . Trees, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r . Barrett, Mrs. Grigsby, Dr. Noble, M r . Trees; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r . E m merson, Mrs. Hopkins, M r . Williams.
