REPORT OF T H E COMMITTEE O N PATENTS Mr. Fisher presented the following report. The Committee on Patents recommends that the Board make a declaration that the University waive any rights which it m a y have in any discovery which Dr. William H . Welker m a y have made in the refining and concentration of anti-toxin sera which will eliminate serum sickness reactions. J. W. Armstrong W. L. Noble Walter T. Fisher, Chairman Committee on Patents On motion of Mr. Fisher, this recommendation was adopted. FURNISHINGS FOR PRESIDENTS HOUSE President Barr made a statement concerning the purchase of certain furnishings for the new President's House. On motion of Mrs. Evans, the President of the Board was authorized to appoint a committee of three members ( f which he should o be one) to cooperate with President and Mrs. Chase in the purchase of furnishings for the new house. President Barr appointed the following committee: Mrs. Evans, Mr. Trees, Mr. Barr. On motion of Dr. Noble, an appropriation of $5000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, from the Reserve and Contingent Fund, was made for the purchase of furnishings for the new President's House. The vote was as follows: Aye, President Barr, Mr. Armstrong, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Fisher, Dr. Noble, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Trees; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Emmerson, Mrs. Grigsby. APPOINTMENTS MADE BY THE PRESIDENT The Secretary of the Board presented for record a l s of appointit ments by the President of the University. Allison, Lowell Edward, Assistant in Soil Biology, in the Department of Agronomy, in the College of Agriculture, and in the Agricultural Experiment Station, for one year beginning September 1, 1930, at a cash compensation at the rate of one hundred sixteen dollars and sixty-six cents ($116.66) a month. (July 15, 1930)1 Boyd, Mrs. Ella F., Director of Social Activities for the S u m m e r Session at the Woman's Residence Hall, for two months beginning July 1, 1930, at a cash compensation at the rate of sixty-five dollars ($65) a month, with maintenance, including living quarters, board, and personal laundry, while on duty. (July 16, 1930) Bradley, William F., Assistant in Chemistry, on one-fourth time, for ten months beginning September 1, 1930, at a cash compensation at the rate of thirty dollars ($30) a month. (July 9, 1930) Dalton, C. E., Laboratory Helper in the Chemistry Department, for one year beginning September 1, 1930, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission, at a cash compensation at the rate of one hundred and twenty-five dollars ($125) a month.
