EXTENSION O F A G R E E M E N T F O R INVESTIGATION O F

BACTERIA IN CANNED MEAT PRODUCTS

(10) A report of the extension of an agreement with the Institute of American Meat Packers for a cooperative investigation, by the Department of Bacteriology, of bacteria in canned meat products, for an indefinite period from September 15, 1931, with the understanding that the Institute will continue to meet the expenses of the investigation. On motion of Mrs. Hopkins, this action was confirmed.

REPORT OF PURCHASES

( n ) A report of the approval of the following purchases, amounting to $1,000 or over, since the last report was m a d e to the Board: N u m b e r one Hindle electrocardiograph with accessories from the Cambridge Instrument C o m p a n y at $1600 to be charged to the Special Equipment Fund of the College of Medicine. This equipment is non-competitive in price. Sixty tons offirstcrop baled alfalfa hay at $10 f.o.b. Gilman and forty tons of second crop baled alfalfa hay at $12.40 f.o.b. Gilman from Frank I. M a n n and Son, Gilman. Funds for this are provided in the budget of the Dairy Department. Metallographic equipment from the E. Leitz C o m p a n y at $1265.65 f.o.b. Urbana, payable out of funds furnished for the cooperative investigation of rails. O n e hundred steer calves for experimental purposes from Texas Livestock Marketing Association at a price of 6}4i per pound, f.o.b. Midland, Texas, at a total cost of $2,600, payable out of funds appropriated to the Department of Animal Husbandry for this purpose. (This stock is being purchased on a competitive basis.) Asbestos protected metal roofing and siding for replacement of fire damage to building used for hay storage for Military Department; from the Mississippi Valley Structural Steel C o m p a n y , Decatur, at a price of $1,210 f.o.b. Urbana, Illinois. (This is a non-competitive item; the material for the erection of this building was purchased from this company in 1929.) T h i s report w a s received for record.
