CONTRACTS SIGNED FOR THE SECRETARY OF THE B O A R D

(20) A report that in order to avoid delay in the execution of contracts which were authorized by the Board or the Executive Committee the Bursar of the University was authorized to sign the name of the Secretary of the Board to these contracts in the latter's absence during September, 1931. A list of these contracts has been filed with the Secretary for record. O n m o t i o n of M r s . Grigsby, this action w a s confirmed. A t this point President B a r r requested M r s . Grigsby to take the chair.

REPORT OF PURCHASES

(21) A report of the approval of the following purchases, amounting to $1,000 or over, since the last report was made to the Board: Equipment and supplies for the laboratory in the Creamery from A. Daigger and Company, whose quotation was the lowest, at a price of $2,280.00, to be charged to the Dairy Creamery Surplus Special Equipment Fund of the Department of Dairy Husbandry. Pipe and materials for extending steam lines to the Skating Rink from Field and Shorb, whose quotation was the lowest, at a price of $1,836.26, to be paid by the Athletic Association. Pyrex laboratory glassware for the General Chemical Stores from E. H. Sargent and Company at approximately $3,300.00, to be paid out of the Revolving Stores Account. T w o General Electric refrigerators, 60 cu. ft. capacity, from the Illinois Power and Light Corporation at a price of $1,092.25 each—one for the McKinley Hospital payable out of the Hospital funds, and one for the Department of H o m e Economics, payable out of the Cafeteria Revolving Fund. Air conditioning equipment for steer feeding stalls for Animal Husbandry from the Carrier Engineering Company at a price of $3,900 f.o.b. factory, to be paid out of Animal Nutrition Station funds. One generator with starters for use in the rails investigation in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Chandeysson Electric Company at a price of $1,372.50, to be paid from the funds supplied for this investigation. Five hundred tons of wheat straw (baled) for the Departments of Dairy Husbandry and Animal Husbandry at a price of $4.75 and $4.85 per ton. The two lowest quotations were received from Grover Craven ($4.75) and Elmer D o d ($4.85), neither of w h o m was able tofillthe entire order. Consequently the order was divided between the two. The total cost was $2,208.75 ($1,187.50 to M r . Craven and $1,021.25 to M r . Dod). Twenty-five hundred bushels of hard wheat for Animal Husbandry from Reifstack and Mattis at a cost of $1,025.00, delivered, to be paid from the Feed Storage Revolving Account.
