This agreement is of the form and character of similar agreements hitherto approved by the Board and I recommend that it be approved. On motion of Mrs. Evans, this agreement was authorized. COOPERATIVE INVESTIGATION OF EFFECT OF GAS ON

FLUE PIPING A N D CHIMNEYS EXTENDED

(5) A report that on recommendation of the Dean of the College of Engineering an agreement with the Utilities Research Commission for a cooperative investigation of the effect of combustion of gas onfluepiping and chimneys has been extended for one year from July 1, 1930. The original agreement, approved by the Board on M a y 23, 1928 (Minutes, page 599), expired July 1, 1930. The extension of the contract is on the same terms as the original agreement, which provides for payment of $7500 a year, or ?i875 a quarter, for the expenses of this investigation. On motion of Mrs. Evans, this action was confirmed.

CONTRACT FOR MILITARY UNIFORMS

(6) A report that the Comptroller has been authorized to conclude a contract with the Associated Military Stores of Chicago for uniforms for advanced course students in the R. 0. T. C. at a cost of $40 each. The expense of these uniforms will be provided for according to the plan approved by the Board of Trustees on M a y 9, 1930 (Minutes, page 588). This contract was placed with the Associated Military Stores on the basis of samples of materials submitted by them and other concerns which supply such equipment, the material submitted by the Associated Military Stores having been found to be equal to or superior to any of the others. All proposals were on the basis of $40 for the uniform and furnishings, this amount being the commutation allowed each student. On motion of Mrs. Evans, this action was confirmed. At this point, Mr. Armstrong took his place with the Committee.

LABORATORY FEES IN THE URBANA DEPARTMENTS FOR 1 930-3 1

(7) The Comptroller and the Provost submit the following schedule of laboratory and other special fees in the Urbana Departments for the year 1930-31. I recommend that the schedule be approved:
