(July 1, 1930) Stout, William Harry, Assistant in Accountancy, in the College of Commerce, on one-half time, for ten months beginning September 1, 1930, at a cash compensation at the rate of sixty dollars (?6o) a month. {June 27, 1930) Templeman, William D., Assistant Professor of English, for one year beginning September 1, 1930, at a cash compensation at the rate of two hundred eight dollars and thirty-three cents ($208.33) a month. (June 26, 1930) Van Deventer, William C , Assistant in Zoology, on one-half time, for ten months beginning September 1, 1930, at a cash compensation at the rate of sixty dollars ($60) a month. These minutes were received for record. MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT CHASE The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University. CHANGES IN THE BUDGET

(1) A report that pursuant to the authority given the President of the University, the following changes and adjustments in the budget for 1930-31 have been authorized, effective September 1, 1930: 1. Karl B. Lohmann, at present Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture at $4250 to be Professor of Landscape Architecture at $4500. 2. Dr. Clarence A. Berdahl, at present Associate Professor of Political Science at $3600 to be Professor at $4000. 3. A n increase in the salary of Mr. Frederick S. Siebert, Associate in Journalism, from $2500 to $2800. 4. A n additional provision for another teacher on one-half time for ten months at $700 in the Budget of the LIniversity High School. 5. A n increase in the allowance for temporary employees in the Expense and Equipment budget of the College of L a w from $1000 to $1750. 6. A n assignment of $600 to the Department of Classics for the salary of a half time research assistant. (This assignment is for 1930-31 only and is to provide assistance to Professor W . A. Oldfather in important research work.) 7. The promotion in rank of Mr. F. G. Straub, Special Research Associate in Chemical Engineering, to be Special Research Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at a salary of $4,000 a year (until further notice). 8. A n increase in the salary of Professor G. L. Clark, of the Department of O n m o t i o n of $5500 tov$7000, beginning a n g e s w e r1, a p p r o v e d . Chemistry, from M r s .
