Treasurer's Balance The cash balance in all funds held by the University Treasurer at the close of the quarter, allowing for outstanding warrants, was $1,071,707, Schedule C. O n the corresponding date a year ago, the balance was $1,212,712. Of this present balance, $208,957 represents general funds, $404,343 federal funds, $283,093 residence hall funds, and $175,314 represents trust funds. Slate Funds Balances The total balance of all State Appropriations as at the end of the quarter was $5,992,747. Of this total, $3,940,478 was for operations, $2,045,056 was for new buildings, and $7,213 was for special purposes (see Schedule C). Of this $2,968,179 is payable out of the Mill Tax Fund and $3,024,568 out of the General Revenue Fund. The balance in the Mill Tax Fund at the end of the quarter, allowing for warrants outstanding, was $384,707. Budget Expenditures Board appropriations to departments for the currentfiscalyear total $6,329,069, including salaries $4,236,050, expense and equipment $2,093,019. These were 20.1% expended at the end of the quarter, and 2.4% encumbered. (Included in Schedule D ) . O n the corresponding date a year ago these appropriations were 19.0% expended and 2.7% encumbered. Expendable Trust Funds Balances at beginning of quarter and receipts for quarter on account of Expendable Trust and Special Funds arising from gifts and income from endowments totalled $208,028, disbursements were $49,365, encumbrances were $6,079, leaving an unencumbered balance at the end of the quarter of $152,584, per Schedule G. Endowment Funds Endowment funds from private gifts for special purposes (see Schedule F) are distributed as follows: Professorial and Lectureship Endowments $ H 5 302 Scholarship and Prize Endowments 84 556 Student Loan Funds Miscellaneous Endowmentsprivate gifts as of September 30, 1930 totalled $186,093 80 031 Student loan funds from Total $309 889 per Schedule H. Loans outstanding as of that date amounted to $170,058, leaving $16,035 available for loaning. Indebtedness on Property Outstanding indebtedness on University property at the end of the quarter consisted solely of 6 % bonds totalling $49,400 on the Dental Building in Chicago, due in 1932 (Schedule H ) .
