i. From the Monsanto Chemical Works of St. Louis, the sum of $1,000 for a special research assistantship in chemistry for research in high-pressure gas reactions for the year 1930-31. 1. From the Radiological Research Institute of St. Louis, the sum of $3,000 for three graduate research assistantships for the year 1930-31 in chemistry for the study of the design and operation of x-ray tubes. 3. From the Tennessee Products Corporation, the sum of $1,000 for the continuation of an assistantship in high-pressure gas reactions research in the Department of Chemistry. (This is a continuation of a previous gift, the Board having authorized the original establishment of this assistantship on October 13, 1928 and its renewal on September 18, 1929.) 4. From M e a d Johnson and Company, the sum of $500 for a continuation of the research work in the College of Medicine established by that C o m p a n y by a similar grant made last year. (Minutes, M a y 9, 1930, page 583.) 5. Through M r . James M . Cowan of Aurora, Illinois, a painting of Ischia on the coast of Italy by the Italian artist, Matteo Sarno. The painting is presented by the artist, and the frame by Mr. Cowan. T h i s report w a s received for record.
