GRADUATE SCHOOL ORGANIZATION The Council of Administration of the University is in charge of the Graduate School, and the executive officer, to whom communications should be addressed, is the Dean of the Graduate School. ADMISSION AND REGISTRATION Graduates of the University of Illinois, and of other colleges and universities of approved standing, may be admitted to membership in the Graduate School upon presentation of their credentials. Other persons suitably qualified may gain admission by special vote of the Council of Administration upon such conditions as may be imposed in each case. Candidates for admission may secure application blanks from the Dean, and these, properly filled out, should be filed, together with such documentary matter as may be presented showing qualifications for membership in the school, with that officer. This should be done not later than the time set for registration in September. Admission may be granted at other times, but the time limit required for degrees counts from the date of the certificate of membership. In the case of non-residents, correspondence should be commenced early, so that the details can be completed by the time mentioned. With the exceptions named below, all members of the Graduate School are required to be in regular attendance at the University, and to do all the work for which they are registered in the departments to which such work belongs. In case of absence on leave, or when absence is necessary to carry on investigations included in approved courses of study, the requirement of continuous residence may be modified by the Council of Administration.
