UNIVERSITY OP ILLINOIS. FOURTH TEAR.

1. Superintendence, Estimates, and Specifications; Architectural Perspective; Free Hand Drawing, or Modeling. 2. Heating and Ventilation; Architectural Design; Free Hand Drawing, or Water Color; Thesis. 3. Esthetics of Architecture; Architectural Design; Free Hand Drawing, or Sketching; Thesis. ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING. The especial purpose of this course of study is to qualify graduates for the profession of architecture, and particularly as architects, structural draughtsmen, and computers, as well as superintendents of construction. It is intended for those students preferring the mathematical and structural side of architecture to its artistic side, and for those whcf wish to acquire a thorough knowledge of iron and steel construction as it is now executed in architectural structure. The course of study differs from that in architecture in the following particulars: Hydraulics and surveying are both required, the last being a single term study arranged for architectural students. Masonry construction, bridge analysis, and bridge designing, as taught to civil engineers, are taken instead of the second year of work in advanced free hand drawing, such as modeling, industrial design, and color design. A term of work in advanced graphics is also offered in lieu of architectural perspective. The remainder of the course of study is identical with that in architecture. The methods of imparting instruction are also similar, and are fully described elsewhere.
