UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

MUSIC.

CLABA MATJD KIMBAIX.

Music constitutes no part of any University course of studies, and is therefore not provided by the Trustees. But, as many students desire instruction in music, competent teachers are selected by the Trustees, and rooms are set apart for instruction.

TUITION.

Instruction, term ot ten weeks—2 lessons a week $15.00 For term of ten weeks—1 lesson a week 8.00 Practice on piano, one hour daily, per term 2.00 The teacher of Vocal Music and Voice Culture, follows the Italian method, giving individual instruction.

TEBMS.

Ten weeks—2 lessons a week $20.00 Ten weeks—1 lesson a week 12.00 No deduction on account of absence in either course, except in case of protracted illness. Special students in music will also be charged the regular term fee charged other students of the University.

PRIZES AND SCHOLARSHIPS.

THE CONKLIN ORATORICAL PRIZES. Mr. R. K. Conklin, an alumnus of the University, has offered two prizes, of $60 and 840, respectively, for original orations from juniors, to be pronounced at such time as the Faculty may appoint during the week of commencement. Competition is open to such as are full members of the junior class. From the orations submitted on or before the 17th day of April, a number, not to exceed ten, to be selected by the Faculty, will be presented on the platform, and to the first and second best, as may be determined by judges, the prizes will be awarded. [For the year 1891-92 Mr. Conklin made the prizes respectively $90 and $60, and a third prize of $20 was added by a citizen of Champaign, 111.]
