HONORARY SCHOLARSHIPS.

awarded to the candidate who passes the best examination, provided he has a standing in each subject not less than 75, and an average standing on all the subjects not less than 80 per cent. Each pupil who enters the examination may choose whether he will be examined to enter upon a technical course in Colleges of Agriculture, Engineering, or Natural Science, or a literary course in the College of Literature and Science. In the first case the subjects of his examination will be Algebra, Geometry, Physiology, Botany, Natural Philosophy, and English Rhetoric. In the second case the subjects will be Algebra, Geometry, Botany or Natural Philosophy, four books of Csesar, six Orations of Cicero, and six books of the yEneid. The two classes of examinations are intended to be as nearly equivalent as possible, and to conform to the requirements already stated under the head, Examinations for Admission. It is essential that the examinations in the counties be held at the time named above, publicly, and with reasonable notice; requests for special or private examinations can not be considered.
