(58) T h e report of the Comptroller for the quarter ending M a r c h 31, 1929. April 12, 1929 To the Members of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois I transmit herewith the Quarterly Report required of m e covering the financial transactions of the University for the quarter ending M a r c h 31, 1929. T h e Report includes the following statements: Schedule A. Statement of the Reserve and Contingent Fund, or working balance of general income, for the quarter. Schedule B. Realization of Income for Operation. This statement shows the estimated income for all purposes other than for n e w buildings provided for by Special State Appropriations, for the currentfiscalyear, and the a m o u n t realized from each source to M a r c h 31. T h e a m o u n t realized from State Appropriations is the a m o u n t of vouchers certified to the State Auditor for payment from these appropriations. T h e a m o u n t realized from Student Fees is the net a m o u n t after allowing for all rebates. T h e a m o u n t realized from Sales is the total sales irrespective of whether collection has been m a d e in cash. Schedule C. S u m m a r y of Receipts and Disbursements. This statement shows the a m o u n t of cash receipts from all sources for the currentfiscalyear to M a r c h 31, deposited with the Treasurer of the University, also, the a m o u n t appropriated to the University by the State for the current fiscal year. It shows also the disbursements from funds in the hands of the University Treasurer and from State appropriations and the unexpended (not unencumbered) balance in each fund as at M a r c h 31. Schedules D to M , inclusive, show the appropriations m a d e by the Board of Trustees for the currentfiscalyear, the expenditures from these appropriations, the outstanding encumbrances in the form of orders and contracts, and the free balances on M a r c h 31. Included with appropriations under the heading "Total Credits" are reappropriations of balances from the previous year and sales credited to departments. Schedule N shows operations of storerooms and accounts, and later are charged materials and labor are first charged to these revolvingservice departments. Costs of
