BOARD OF TRUSTEES

REPORT O F COMMITTEE O N LANDSCAPING The Secretary presented a report of a meeting of the special committee on landscaping the campus. A meeting of the s e i l committee on the landscaping of the campus wa6 pca held at the University at 10 a. m. on Friday, July 15, 1927. Mr. Barr and Mrs. Grigsby, members of the Committee, were present. A report from Mr. Pitkin on the landscaping of the campus was read and discussed. Action on this matter was deferred. This report w a s received for record. COMMITTEE ON BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS The Secretary presented a report of a meeting of the Committee on Buildings and Grounds. A meeting of the Committee on Buildings and Grounds was h l a the Unied t versity, in Urbana, at 10:30 a. m. on Friday, July 15, 1927. The following members were present: Mr. George A. Barr, Dr. W . L. Noble, Mrs. Helen M . Grigsby, Mrs. Laura B. Evans, Mr. James W . Armstrong. Mrs. Mary E. Busey, a member of the Board, President Kinley, and Professor J. M . White were present. The Committee inspected the campus plans and then visited the campus and grounds with special reference to the location of the new buildings and the grounds around them. The Committee also considered a report from Professor White on the proposed sidewalks around the new buildings. N o action was taken on this report, but it was the opinion of the Committee that the necessary sidewalks should be constructed this summer. This report w a s received for record. PAYMENT OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT The special committee on landscaping the campus made the following recommendation. The special committee on landscaping of the campus recommend that the bill submitted by William Pitkin, Jr., under date of July 20, 1927, for services to date, in the amount of $660.15, be paid out of the special appropriation of $1,000 made by the Board of Trustees to cover this expense. George A. Barr Mrs. Grigsby O n motion of D r . Noble, this p a y m e n t w a s authorized. SWITCH TRACK The Committee on Buildings and Grounds made the following report: At the M a y meeting of the Board of Trustees the question of an unloading track for the Illinois Traction System was referred to the Buildings and Grounds Committee for consideration and report. The Committee submits a letter from the Superintendent of Business Operations to the Illinois Power and Light Corporation stipulating our conditions and a reply from J. W . Stipes, Special Traffic Representative of the Illinois Traction System, agreeing to these conditions; your Committee therefore recommends that the transfer of the tracts of real estate as described in the Board Minutes of M a y 21, 1927, be consummated. August 8, 1927 Professor Jamts M . White, Superintendent of Business Operations University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois D e a r Professor White: Pursuant to our conversation a few day6 ago relative to a side track immediately east of Goodwin Avenue, I wish to say the Illinois Traction System agrees to
