to exceed £6,000, this making the total cost to the University probably not more than $8,693.38. In view of the above circumstances, and in view of the facts that the assessment for this Stadium project has already been spread and confirmed by the Court, and that in the interest of the property owners, as well as of the University, the project should not be unduly delayed, I recommend that the Board of Trustees adopt the following resolution: W H E R E A S , the Board of Local Improvements of the City of Champaign is projecting the pavement of Armory Avenue from the west property line of Oak Street to the west property line of First Street, and fPHEREAS, the assessment roll has beenfiledin the office of the County Clerk of Champaign County, duly approved, and W H E R E A S , the commissioner who spread the assessment roll hasfixedthe sum of $2,693.38 as the fair and equitable assessment against the University, and W H E R E A S , the interests of the University require more adequate provision for drainage than have been adopted by the Board of Local Improvements in connection with this paving project, and W H E R E A S , the Board of Local Improvements agrees in a contract to be drawn up between said Board of Local Improvements and the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois whereby said Board of Local Improvements will include in this proposed general improvement project drainage facilities approved by the Supervising Architect of the University of Illinois to be provided for at the expense of the University. N O W , T H E R E F O R E , B E IT R E S O L V E D that the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois does hereby accept the assessment of $2,693.38 spread upon the roll against the University as the portion of the costs of the Armory Avenue pavement that is fair and equitable for the University to assume against its property, one block in length, fronting on Armory Avenue; and, B E IT F U R T H E R R E S O L V E D , that the President of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, or his duly appointed representative, is hereby authorized to sign an agreement with the Board of Local Improvements of the City of Champaign, or its duly authorized officer or representative, whereby the Board of Trustees of the University will agree to pay the additional cost necessary to provide more adequate storm sewer drainage as described above, at a cost not exceeding $6,000 additional to the amount assessed against the University as its share of the paving cost; provided, that the plans and specifications offered by the Board of Local Improvements for this more, adequate drainage shall be approved by the Supervising Architect of the University; •provided further that before the assessment aforesaid shall become in any sense a binding obligation against the University and before said agreement is executed by the President of the Board of Trustees of the University, the City Council of Champaign shallfirstpass a valid ordinance vacating all streets in the tract known as College Place, as described in the resolution adopted September 22, 1926, and amended at this meeting, July 14, 1927, as above; and provided, further, that the proposed additional work undertaken to make more adequate provision for drainage and to be paid for by the University shall be contracted for on the basis of competitive bids, the method of receiving the bids and awarding the contract to be approved by said Supervising Architect, the contract for said additional improvements to be made directly between the University and the contractor receiving the award for the city's work. O n motion of M r . Barr, these resolutions were adopted.
