L. JEFFERSON (2) On recommendation of Dean Babcock and Professor Bernbaum, I recommend that Dr. Bernard L. Jefferson, at present Professor of English at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, be appointed Associate Professor of Rhetoric at a salary of $4,000 a year, beginning September 1, 1927. O n motion of M r . Barr, this appointment w a s made. REAPPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR H. A. HOLL1STER AS HIGH S C H O O L VISITOR (3) A recommendation that Professor H. A. Hollister be continued as High School Visitor for the year 1927-28. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this recommendation was approved. At this point, M r . Armstrong took his place with the Board. APPOINTMENT OF DR. HUGH A. McGUIGAN AS ACTING D E A N O F T H E C O L L E G E O F MEDICINE (4.) A recommendation that Dr. Hugh A. McGuigan, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, be appointed Acting Dean of the College of Medicine during the absence of Dean Davis, from June 20 until such time as he returns, his salary while thus acting to be the same as now paid the Dean. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this appointment w a s made. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR A. W. NOLAN (5) On h s request and on recommendation of Dean Chadsey, I recommend that i Dr. A. W . Nolan, Associate Professor of Agricultural Education, be given a year's leave of absence without pay from September 1, 1927. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this leave w a s granted.

INCREASES IN RANK AND SALARY FOR CERTAIN MEMBERS OF STAFF FOR 1927-28

(6) I have approved the following changes in rank and salary of certain major positions for 1927-28 to meet calls, and request confirmation of the same. W . C Rose, Professor of Physiological Chemistry at $5,500, to the same rank at $7,500. R. D. Carmichael, Professor of Mathematics at $5,500, to the same rank at $7,000. T. W . Baldwin, Assistant Professor of English at $3,000, to Associate Professor at $3,800. F. F. Weinard, Associate in Floricultural Physiology at $2,500, to Assistant Professor of Floricultural Physiology at $3,000. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this action w a s confirmed.
