APPROPRIATION FOR REPAIR OF HAILSTORM DAMAGE TO GREENHOUSES AND OTHER BUILDINGS

(4.) The Supervising Architect submits the following estimate of the cost of repairing damage to greenhouses and other buildings caused by a hailstorm on the afternoon of April 4, 1927, and requests an appropriation to meet the expenses of repairs. Labor of replacing glass at greenhouses, 48,000 sq. ft. @ 20c per sq. ft $ 9,600.00 Material purchased to date 4,288.00 Cost of handling material by draymen, etc..., 500.00 Estimated cost of repairs to glass and roof of: Farm Mechanics Building, f Gym. Annex v 1,000.00 Engineering Hall I All other buildings 500.00 Total $ 18,888.00 Repairing Expenses—twenty percent 3,000.00 Incidental muntin bars on roofs of greenhouses $ 3,777.60 Total $ 22,665.60 The unit cost of replacing the glass in the green houses is based on the actual cost of the amount which has been replaced to date. It will be necessary to repaint the muntin bars on account of the paint being removed in the process of the removal of the old glass and cleaning for replacement. The item of incidentals includes overhead, material which has not been purchased, repairs to muntin bars, sheet metal, etc., which could not otherwise be accurately estimated.

Supervising Architect Recommended that the sum of $23,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to cover the cost of the necessary repairs. Trees; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r s . Grigsby, Mrs. Ickes, M r . Small, M r . W h a m . DEATH BENEFIT FOR H. A. BURR (5) A recommendation that the sum of $626 be appropriated, according to our regulations, from the Reserve and Contingent Fund as the death benefit for Mr. H. A. Burr, a laborer in the Department of Horticulture, who died March 30, 1927, and that the Comptroller be authorized to pay this amount to Mr. Burr's legal representative. O n motion of M r . Barr, this recommendation was adopted, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r . Noble, M r . Trees; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r s . SPECIAL APPROPRIATION TO THE COLLEGE OF MEDICINE (6) A recommendation that $1,500 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to the contingent fund of the College of Medicine.
