O n motion of Mrs. Evans, this appropriation was made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Mrs. Ickes, Mr. Trees, Mr. W h a m ; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Noble, Mr. Small. TERM OF THE PRESIDENT On motion of Mr. Armstrong, the President of the University was instructed to take steps to secure a change in the law whichfixesthe term of office of the President of the University at two years. ALUMNI MEMORIAL. The Secretary read a report from the special committee on Alumni Memorial, Dr. Noble, Mrs. Evans, and Professor White (page 189), recommending that the design for an Alma Mater group prepared by Mr. Taft be accepted, and that the group be placed on the campus in a location to be selected later. O n motion of Mr. Barr, this recommendation was approved. ART, ARCHEOLOGY, AND KINDRED COLLECTIONS O n recommendation of President Kinley, and on motion of Mrs. Grigsby, ten thousand dollars was appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the purchase of scientific and artistic materials for the art gallery and for Indian archeology, the matter to be in the hands of a special committee to be appointed by the President of the University. The appropriation was made by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Mrs. Ickes, Mr. Trees, Mr. W h a m ; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Noble, Mr. Small. APPOINTMENTS MADE BY PRESIDENT KINLEY The Secretary presented also for record a l s of appointments made it by the President of the University. Alyea, P. E., Assistant in Economics, on one-half time, beginning February 7, 1927, and continuing until June 30, 1927, at a cash compensation at the rate of seventy dollars ($70) a month.1 (February 24, 1927)1 Bacon, C. A., Assistant in Obstetrics and Gynecology, for five months beginning February 1, 1927, without salary. (March 1, 1927) Barr, H . L., Assistant in Botany, on one-half time, for five months beginning February 1, 1927, at a cash compensation of three hundred dollars ($300). This supersedes his previous appointment.1 (January 26, 1927) Becker, H . O , Assistant in Hygiene, in the College of Medicine, for four months beginning February I, 1927, at a cash compensation of two hundred fifty dollars ($250)-1 (January 31, 1927) Becker, R o m a n , Assistant in English, for five months beginning February 1, 1927, at a cash compensation of seven hundredfiftydollars ($750).
