AUTOMOBILE TRAFFIC ON THE CAMPUS (11) In view of the changes wrought by the regulation of student use of automobiles, I recommend, on suggestion of Professor White, that as an experiment the regulation governing automobile traffic on the campus, adopted by the Board of Trustees on September 16, 1924 (Board Minutes, page 43), be suspended until May 1, 1927, so far as it applies to the movement of automobiles on the campus during the interval between classes, but not to the rule concerning parking. If no other action is taken in the meantime, the rule will automatically go back into full effect on that date. M r . Barr offered a motion that this recommendation be adopted. T h e motion was lost. R E Q U E S T O F M R . W . I_. A B B O T T FOR HEARING B E F O R E T H E B O A R D (12) Mr. W. L. Abbott has desired to be heard by the Board concerning a matter which he wishes to present on behalf of the alumni. M r . Abbott, being introduced, stated that the Alumni F u n d Committee of the Alumni Association is proposing to engage Lorado Taft to design a suitable piece of statuary, to be cast in bronze and erected on the campus, to serve as a tribute from the Alumni to the University and as a m e m e n t o of our great alumnus sculptor. M r . Abbott asked that the plan be approved in general and that a special committee be appointed, with w h o m the Alumni F u n d Committee might confer. M r . Abbott retired. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, the plan of the Alumni F u n d C o m mittee was approved in general, subject to the rules concerning the acceptance of objects of art. O n motion of Mrs. Busey, the President of the Board was directed to appoint a special committee of three, including the Supervising Architect, to confer with the Alumni F u n d Committee.
