A P P R O P R I A T I O N F O R P O R T R A I T O F P R E S I D E N T KINL.EY (37) A statement has been received from Mr. Paul Trebilcock, the artist who was commissioned by the Board on September 1 ?, 1925 (page 39c) to paint the portrait of President Kinley, covering the cost of the portrait, the frame, and boxing the portrait for shipment. I recommend that the sum of $1,639.90 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for this purpose, and that the enclosed bill be approved for payment on delivery of the portrait. O n motion of Mrs. Evans, this appropriation was m a d e , subject to the approval of the portrait by the committee, by the following vote: A y e , M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r s . Busey, M r s . REPORT OF PURCHASE OF l_OT 33 IN COLLEGE PLACE

(38) T h e Comptroller reports that in accordance with the action of the Board of Trustees on September 22, 1926, Lot 33 in College Place has been purchased for the s u m of $3,000, subject to the taxes for 1926, and the papers have been deposited with the Secretary of the Board. T h i s report w a s received for record.

ADJUSTMENT OF SALARY OF PROFESSOR N. C. BROOKS

(29) I recommend that the salary of Professor N. C. Brooks of the Department of German be increased from $3750 to $4000 a year, beginning September 1, 1926, because of the assumption by him of additional responsibility for advanced courses at the request of the University. This recommendation was approved. RESIGNATION OF PROFESSOR A. E. DRUCKER (30) Acting for the President, I have accepted the resignation of Assistant Professor A. E. Drucker of the Department of Mining Engineering, to take effect October 31, 1926. Professor Drucker has been offered the Deanship of the School of Mines and Geology of the State College of Washington, and it is necessary for him to take over his duties on November 1, 1926. O n motion of M r . W h a m , this action w a s confirmed.
