GIFT F R O M THE EDIBLE GELATIN MANUFACTURERS' RESEARCH SOCIETY O F AMERICA (17) The Edible Gelatin Manufacturers' Research Society of America has made a gift of $1,200 to the University for research work in infant feeding in the College of Medicine. This is to continue the work started last year for which the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research contributed $4,500. Acting under the authority given me by the Board, I have accepted this gift. This report was received for record. GIFTS TO THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING (18) The following gifts have been offered to the College of Engineering: From Mr. August Ziesing, President of the American Bridge Co., steel castings valued at $1,050, to be used in connection with tests on large rollers which are being carried on in the Engineering Experiment Station. From the Sheldon Axle and Spring Company of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, a Model 95 Huck Rear Axle, valued at $500. From the Wagner Electric Company of Detroit, the principal parts of a Lockheed Four-Wheel Hydraulic Brake, valued at $100. From the Babcock-Wilcox Company, six high pressure autoclaves, valued at $300 each, to be used for experiments on the embrittlement of boiler plate. Acting under the authority given me by the Board of Trustees, I have accepted these gifts. This report was received for record. REQUEST FOR RETURN OF SARGENT GAS ENGINE (19) I recommend that the Sargent gas engine which was presented to the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1909-10 by the designer, Mr. C. E. Sargent, of the class of '86, be returned to him, as he requests. This recommendation was approved.

PURCHASE OF SHAFER LOT

(20) The Comptroller reports that in accordance with the action of the Board o July 7 (page 7) he has concluded the purchase of the Shafer lot for $1000 free of all incumbrances. This report was received for record. PURCHASE OF YEATS PROPERTY (21) The Comptroller reports that in accordance with the action of the Board o July 7 (page 6) he has concluded the purchase of the Yeats property located in the angle between the Mount Hope and Rose Lawn Cemeteries at a price of $4000. This report w a s received for record. THEFT OF FORD ROADSTER (22) Dean Mumford reports that a Ford Roadster used by the Departmen Agronomy in soil investigations throughout the state was stolen at Harrisburg, Illinois, on the evening of August 7, 1926. The car had been left in front of the hotel by Mr. M . A. Hein of the Department, who had locked it as much as possible. The loss was reported to the police, and the car was recovered on August 30, at Raum, about 40 miles from Harrisburg. When recovered a number of parts were missing, and the meter indicated that the car had been driven about 250 miles after i was stolen. The repairs and replacement of stolen parts necessary to put t the car in good condition amount to $85.20. This report was received for record.
