88 board of trustees [October 25, been presented to the Board of Trustees, on the ground that, since the University had given heavy bond for the care of all the War Department property committed to it, the War Department was not justified in taking away any of that property without the permission of the University. I called your attention to this matter at the meeting in April last when a similar order had been issued directing that certain of the property under our care be sent to Taylorville for the summer. I have written the Adjutant General of the state and the Commandant of the 6th Corps Area that I have directed Colonel Merry not to comply with their orders until the University has formally consented to the withdrawal of this property. Of course we desire to facilitate the work of the War Department and the National Guard in every way that we can. All that I am insisting on is that no one can withdraw property for which the University has given bond without the University's consent, without invalidating the bond. I, therefore, ask authority to permit the withdrawal of this property now requested. O n motion of M r . Trees, this authority w a s granted. BALANCES IN TREASURER'S HANDS (21) A report of the Comptroller showing the balances in the hands of the Treasurer of the University. Action on this matter w a s deferred. INFRINGEMENTS OF PATENTS (22) A statement from Professor J. M . White concerning the policy of the University toward certain persons who were infringing on patents held by the University. Action on this matter w a s deferred. COMPTROLLER'S REPORT (23) The report of the Comptroller for the quarter ending September 30, 1924.
