CHICAGO D E P A R T M E N T S College of Dentistry, Second Year $35100 All other fees remain the same. O n motion of M r s . Blake, these fees were approved. SPECIAL APPROPRIATION FOR PHARMACY (2) In order to provide for the increased number of students in Pharmacy there will be needed more chairs, lockers, desks, etc., and certain changes in partitions, as well as some additions to the staff. Dean Day has submitted the following list of necessary expenditures for this purpose: Chairs JS450 Lockers 263 Office furniture 300 Structural changes 100 Apparatus and kits 1,000 Laboratory supplies 1,700 Salaries S.ioo Total #8,913 I recommend that the changes and provisionsrequestedbe authorized, and that an appropriation of $9,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to meet the expenses indicated, the President being authorized as usual to make appointments of necessary new instructors and necessary changes in existing salaries for the purpose indicated within the limit of the amount assigned to salaries. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this recommendation w a s approved. T h e appropriation w a s m a d e by the following vote: A y e , M r . A r m strong, M r s . Blake, M r s . Busey, M r s . T H E ELLS L A N D (3) A recommendation that the Executive Committee be authorized to purchase the Ells land, being 46/^ acres, more or less, from the owners, at the price of $850 an acre, to be paid directly to the owners, and that an appropriation of $40,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made from the legislative appropriation of #60,000 for land, for the purpose of making the necessary payment: provided that the committee shall first secure a deed from Carrie M . Hodges, Marjorie Hodges, and Harry Ells, and their husbands and wives, if any, and provided, of course, that the usual formalities are complied with in the transaction. O n motion of M r s . Blake, this recommendation w a s approved and the appropriation w a s m a d e b y the following vote: A y e , M r . Armstrong, M r s . Blake, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r s . CONTRACT FOR MILITARY UNIFORMS (4) The Comptroller requests that he be authorized to make a contract for three hundred military uniforms, more or less, at #30 each, the amount being the commutation allowed by the War Department.
