OSTEOPATHIC PRACTICE AND McKINLEY HOSPITAL (17) Each member of your Board received some time last month a copy of a letter from McCormick, Kirkland, Patterson & Fleming, Attorneys, through Mr. Louis Caldwell, presenting an agreement concerning the regulations adopted by the Board setting a standard for admission to practice in the McKinley Hospital. Our Legal Counsel informs me that the Board i within its rights in this matter and I s recommend, therefore, that the Legal Counsel be authorized to inform Mr. Caldwel! that the Board does not think it well to change the standard which i has set up t in this matter. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this recommendation was adopted. MURAL DECORATIONS IN THE LIBRARY (18) The Supervising Architect informs me that Mr. Charles A. Piatt and Mr. Barry Faulkner were at the University on Friday and Saturday, the 16th and 17th. for conference on the plans for the new Architectural building and the mural decorations in the Library. He reports some definite progress on the former. Agreeing with Mr. Piatt, Professor White recommends that Mr. Barry Faulkner be engaged to do the mural painting in the new Library and that Mr. Faulkner is willing to accept the commission for the remuneration provided in your appropriation—namely $8,000—plus his necessary traveling expenses which according to Professor White, will probably mean two trips. Professor White quotes Mr. Faulkner to the effect that it will take at least eight months to complete our work. O n motion of D r . Noble, this matter w a s referred to the C o m mittee on Buildings and Grounds for investigation and report. INSPECTION OF STUDENT ROOMING HOUSES AND C O N D I T I O N S O F LIVING (19) I request an appropriation of $500 from the Reserve and Contingent Fund in order to make an inquiry into the conditions of living, lodging, and other conditions among our students.
