R E S O L V E D that the Board of Trustees does hereby respectfully protest against said removal of the College of L a w from Urbana to Springfield, and be it further R E S O L V E D that the President of the University is hereby directed to oppose the passage of said bill by all proper means and to present a copy of this resolution to the Houses of the legislature and particularly to the committees in charge of said bill and to petition the Houses of the legislature in the name and in behalf of the Board of Trustees against such removal of the College of Law. T h e resolution w a s adopted a n d the President of the University w a s authorized a n d instructed to oppose the passage of this bill if introduced.

SUMMER SCHOOL OF LANDSCAPE GARDENING

(18) Dean Mumford requests an appropriation of $3000 to meet the expenses of a summer school of landscape gardening to be held at Lake Forest. I recommend that this appropriation be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund, the expenditure to be subject in all its details to the approval of the President of the University. This appropriation w a s m a d e as r e c o m m e n d e d a n d the President of the University w a s authorized to institute this s u m m e r school if in his j u d g m e n t it s e e m e d wise. BROWN-KNIPP PATENTS M r . Trimble m a d e a report of progress on the negotiations for the sale of vacuum tube patents. M r . Trimble was requested to continue these negotiations on behalf of the University. APPOINTMENTS MADE BY PRESIDENT KINLEY T h e Secretary presented for record a list of appointments m a d e by the President of the University. Baldwin, P. M., Assistant in Animal Nutrition, in the Department of Animal Husbandry, in the Agricultural Experiment Station, for seven months, beginning February 1, 1925, at a salary of one hundred dollars ($100) a month. (February 4, I92S)1 Batman, Dorothy, Stenographer in the Department of Physical Education for W o m e n , for seven months, beginning February 1, 1925, at a salary of seventy-five dollars (#75) a month, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission. This appointment supersedes her previous one. (January 29, 1925) Becker, H. C , Assistant in Hygiene, in the Department of Pathology and Bacteriology, in the College of Medicine, for four months, beginning February 4, 1925, at a salary offiftydollars ($50) a month. (January 22, 1925) Bell, J. F., Assistant in Economics, on full-time, forfivemonths, beginning February I, 1925, at a salary of one hundred forty dollars (#140) a month. This appointment supersedes his previous one. (February 2, 1925) Bryan, M . H., Assistant in Economics, on full-time, forfivemonths, beginning February 1, 1925, at a salary of one hundred twenty dollars ($120) a month. This appointment supersedes his previous one. (February 2, 1925)_ Carlsen, D. A., Assistant in Accountancy, on one-half time, forfivemonths, beginning February I, 1925, at a salary of sixty dollars ($60) a month. (January 31, 1925) Doty, J. R., Assistant in Physiology, in the College of Medicine, on one-half time, for four months, beginning February 9, 1925, at a salary of seventy-five dollars ($75) a month.
