after the process for review of a bid protest had been completed and procedures were deemed appropriate and adequate.) President's Report on Actions of the Senate Establish the Option, German with Business Minor for the Major in German, Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Chicago (41) T h e Chicago Senate has approved a proposal by the Department of German to establish a new option with a business minor within the existing major in German. T h e new option will consist of German courses that will satisfy the requirements for the German major, plus collateral courses in the College of Business Administration constituting a Business Minor. T h e German with Business Minor will require 28 semester hours of German and 31 semester hours of business courses. T h e new option is expected to increase the career orientation of the program and j o b marketability of its graduates, and will meet the growing need for global competitiveness in the business world. Establish the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Option in the Master of Science in Nursing Sciences Program, Chicago T h e Chicago Senate has approved a proposal by the College of Nursing to establish a new option, the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Option, for the Master of Science in Nursing Sciences program. This five-course option prepares nurses as pediatric nurse practitioners who can provide quality primary care to infants, children, and adolescents in ambulatory care settings, particularly in underserved communities. T h e College's decision to establish the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Option is consistent with the current direction of health care reform that places more emphasis on primary care provided by nurses with advanced practice skills. T h e option will also respond to past, current, and prospective students who have expressed an interest in graduate pediatric nurse practitioner education. This report was received for record. Comptroller's Report of Contracts Quarter Ended June 15, 1994 (42) T h e comptroller submitted the quarterly report of contracts. T h e report included contractual agreements for payments to the University in amounts of $50,000 or more and for payments made by the University for subcontracts under sponsored research agreements. SECRETARY'S REPORT The secretary presented for record appointments to the faculty and changes of status made by the president, resignations, terminations, and retirements.
