1995] UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS 239 required teacher education professional education courses, to improve early field experiences; and (4) add a requirement that each student complete a teacher education minor in some field, to enhance the employment opportunities of graduates. The requirements for the major are increased by 3 semester hours (not counting the goal directed sequence requirement or the teacher education minor), and the required professional education courses are increased by an additional 2 semester hours. (The number of hours required for graduation remains constant at a minimum of 120 hours.) This report was received for record.
