Appointments to the Faculty (8) The following new appointments to the faculty of the rank of assistant professor and above, and certain administrative positions, have been approved since the previous meeting of the Board of Trustees. Positions in the University are classified in the following categories and are designated in the budget by the symbols indicated. A — Indefinite tenure N — Term appointment not eligible to be appointed for an indefinite term and not credited toward probationary period Q — Initial term appointment for a professor or associate professor Y — Twelve-month service basis 1-7 — Indicates the number of years of service which will be credited at the end of the contract period toward completion of the probationary period relating to tenure. Figures following a symbol indicate percentage of time if the appointment is on a part-time basis (e.g., N75 means one year on three-fourths time). Chicago FRANCIS K. H. QUEK, assistant professor of electrical engineering and computer science, beginning August 21, 1993 (1), at an annual salary of $50,000. BAHRAM H. ISHERWOOD, professor of art and program chair, School of Art and Design, beginning May 21, 1993 (A;N), at an annual salary of $53,000. RICHARD E. WARNER, associate professor of forestry, May 21-August 20, 1993 (N), $19,167, and beginning August 21, 1993 (A), at an annual salary of $57,500. On motion of Ms. Reese, these appointments were confirmed. Promotions in Academic Rank, 1993-94 (9) The chancellors at the respective campuses have submitted recommendations for promotions in academic rank in accordance with the attached lists, effective at the beginning of the 1993-94 appointment year.
