It is further recommended that the contracts, other than the contract for general work, be assigned to the contractor for general work (Alternate G-l). It is also recommended that the project architect, Ralph Hahn & Associates, Springfield, be employed for the architectural/engineering contract administrative services required during the construction phase of the project on a fixed-fee basis of $5,130; and to provide the required on-site observation on an hourly basis, the total not to exceed $8,800, plus authorized reimbursements. Funds are available from the State appropriated and institutional funds operating budget of the Beckman Institute. A schedule of the bids received and the architect's hourly rate schedule have been filed with the secretary of the board for record. T h e remodeling of 4,500 net assignable square feet in the basement area of Beckman Institute includes removal of a 14-foot section of the exterior foundation wall and construction of a new areaway and foundation supports to receive the new magnet for the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Facility (MRI). Work also consists of the construction of new offices for the current occupants in the area adjacent to the main MRI room.

(9) T h e president of the University, with the concurrence of the appropriate administrative officers, recommends that the project budget be increased from $600,000 to $660,000 and that the following contracts be awarded for the construction of an addition to the Campus Recreation Center East at the Urbana campus.
