BOARD OF TRUSTEES PLAN FOR R E T I R I N G ALLOWANCES

[July 6

President Abbott asked Mr. Herbert to take the chair, and presented the matter of disability and retiring allowances. On motion of Mr. Abbott, the following resolutions were unanimously adopted: Resolved that in recognition of long and faithful service the University should consider means for establishing for its employees: Temporary support during disability; Retirement with pension after a specific age; Allowance to dependents after death. Resolved also that the President of the Board be directed to appoint a committee for the study of this subject and that it be assisted in its work by a similar committee to be appointed by the President of the University. These resolutions were approved by the following vote: Aye: Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Hoit; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Noble, Mr. Small, Mr. Trimble.

A P P O I N T M E N T S TO FILL VACANCIES

The Secretary presented also for record the following list of appointments made by President Kinley:

Abbitt, M. A., Junior Architectural Draftsman in the Office of the Supervising Architect, from June 6, 1921, to about September 1, 1921, at a salary of thirty-two and one-half dollars ($32.50) a week. (June 11, 1921).* Adams, L. A., Assistant Professor of Zoology, for one year, beginning September 1, 1921, at a salary of three thousand dollars ($3,000). (July 3, 1921.) Anderson, Harriet M., Assistant in Psychology, on three-fifths time, for ten months, beginning September 1,1921, at a salary of eighty-four dollars ($84) a month. (June 21, 1921.) Armstrong, Beulah M., Instructor in Mathematics, for ten months, beginning September 1, 1921, at a salary of one hundred eighty dollars ($180) a month. (July 3,1921.) Arnold, J. W., Assistant in Mathematics, on two-thirds time, for ten months, beginning September 1, 1921, at a salary of eighty dollars ($80) a month. (July 3, 1921.) Bevan, Arthur, Associate in Geology, for one year, beginning September 1, 1921, at a salary of three thousand dollars ($3,000). (July 5, 1921.) Blanchard, W. O., Assistant Professor of Geology, for three years, beginning September' 1, 1921, at a salary of three thousand dollars ($3,000) a year. (July 5, 1921.) Breathwit, Rachel, Assistant in Romance Languages, on part-time, in the Summer Session of 1921, beginning June 27 and ending August 13, 1921, at a compensation of one hundred dollars ($100). (July 2, 1921.) Bredvold, L. L, Associate in English, for twelve months, beginning September 1, 1921, at a salary of one hundred eighty-three and one-third dollars ($183.33f|) a month. (June 22, 1921.)* Butler, W. G., to give instruction in Agriculture, in the Summer Session of 1921, beginning June 20 and ending August 13, 1921, at a compensation of three hundred fifty dollars ($350) for the session. (June 11,1921.)
