which is hereby acknowledged, agrees to establish in the College of Medicine of the University of Illinois one perpetual scholarship in said college, to be known and designated as the " Emily W. L. Schofield Scholarship of the Northwestern Branch of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church." And, it is further agreed that the party of the second part may nominate each year one student to be the beneficiary under said scholarship, and that if in any year or years no students should be nominated, then the party of the second part may in other years nominate two or more students in such number as will be equivalent to one student for each year consecutively, provided that for the school year 1919-1920 the party of the second part shall be entitled to nominate two students. It is agreed that if the party of the first part should cease or fail to provide complete medical education for women, according to the standard required by other regular Schools of Medicine in good standing, that it shall repay to the party of the second part the amount paid to it by the party of the first part for the establishment of said scholarship. The party of the first part agrees to furnish any student or students nominated for said scholarship, free of charge, tuition in the said College of Medicine of the University of Illinois, in whatever grade or year the student or students may be qualified to receive instruction, including also matriculation, final examinations, material necessary for illustrative and practical work, and all college and hospital instruction such as may be given to other students of the same year and qualifications. Any student who has been a beneficiary of this scholarship for one or more years shall be entitled in any subsequent year to enter said College as a student on the same conditions as are required of a non-beneficiary student of the same yearly grade. It is agreed that any student nominated as a beneficiary under said scholarship shall be subject to all the conditions required for admission and graduation, responsibility for the breakage of furniture and laboratory appliances, and to all other rules and regulations of the College of Medicine of the University of Illinois. It is further agreed that these covenants shall be binding upon both parties and their assigns or successors.
