BOARD OF TRUSTEES A U T H O R I T Y TO CONFER DEGREES

(i) A request that the President of the University be given authority to confer degrees at the approaching Commencement on those young men and women whoi may be recommended by the various faculties, in accordance with the statutes of the University.

On motion of Miss Watson, this authority was granted.

SITE FOR MCKINLEY HOSPITAL

(2) A letter from the Comptroller concerning the purchase of lots 73 and 74 in College Place Addition to the city of Champaign, Illinois. April 4, 1918 President Edmund J. Jante^ University of Illinois

MY DEAR PRESIDENT JAMES:

I beg to advise you that in accordance with the direction, of the Board of Trustees, I have purchased from the Alumni Association of the Chi Beta Fraternity the following property: Lots 73 and 74 in College Place Addition to the City of Champaign, Illinois, located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Third Street and Armory Avenue. Lot 73 having a frontage of 57 feet on Armory Avenue and a depth of 120 feet, and lying west of Lot 74. Lot 74 having a frontage of 57 feet on Armory Avenue and 120 feet on Third Street. Purchase price of the above $6,000.00, subject to six unpaid installments on Armory Avenue pavement at $18.96 for each lot, total $227.52 with 5% interest from January 1, 1918. The abstract to the property has been fully approved by the Legal Counsel of the University. The Warranty Deed for the property is being recorded and will later be filed with the Secretary of the Board. Cordially yours,

I beg to enclose herewith statements of the two Mess Halls of the School of Military Aeronautics as at February twenty-eighth. You will note from these statements the amounts of income and expense (exclusive of rent and overhead) ;• the surplus from operation; the amounts of equipment purhased from such surplus, and the net balance of surplus in both accounts as at the above date.
