H o i t ; also Mrs. Laura B. Evans, chairman of the Committee on the College oi Medicine and School of Pharmacy. The Committee considered carefully the recommendation of the Medical Committee for the purchase of a part of the West Side Baseball Park for the proposed clinical building of the College of Medicine. It was voted that William L. Abbott, President of the Board of Trustees, be authorized to acquire a half interest in the West Side Baseball Park at a price not to exceed $105,000; and that the Committee recommend to the Board of Trustees that the proposed clinical building be erected on this site if it can be acquired. T h e meeting adjourned.

APPOINTMENTS MADE BY PRESIDENT JAMES The Secretary presented for record the following list of appointments to vacancies made by the President of the University.

Ballew, L. A., Clerk in the Purchasing Office, at a salary of forty-five dollars ($45) a month, beginning April 17, 1916, and continuing until further notice, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission. (June 26, 1916*). Bower, L. E., Instructor in Pediatrics in the dispensary of the College of Medicine, until August 31, 1916, without salary. (June 28, 1916). Frary, H . D., Assistant in Mathematics in the summer session, at a salary of two hundred dollars ($200), this appointment superseding his former appointment at $150. (June 30, 1916). Lincoln, C. H., Research Assistant in the Illinois Historical Survey, beginning when he reports for duty and continuing for four months, at a salary of one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125) a month. (June 26, 1916). McDonald, Eifie, Technician in the department of research medicine for two months beginning July 1, 1916, at a salary of seventy dollars ($70) a month. (June 26, 1916). Moyers, L. H., Instructor in Clinical Medicine in the dispensary of the College of Medicine, until August 31, 1916, without salary. (June 28, 1916). Pavelczyk, Joseph, Technician in Research Medicine for two months beginning July 1, 1916, at a salary of forty-five dollars ($45) a month. (June 26, 1916). Pope, W . T., Mechanician in the Shop Laboratories, at a salary of ninety dollars ($90) a month, beginning June 12, 1916, and continuing until further notice, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission. (June 29, 1916). Smith, Dorothy, Office Assistant in home economics demonstration, for one year beginning July 1, 1916, at a salary of seventy dollars ($70) a month. (June 29, 1916). Wright, Agnes, Research Assistant in the Illinois Historical Survey, for
