SUIT OF CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEE

(6) A statement from the Comptroller that Mr. Charles Redman, a former employee of the University who was laid off in December, 1916, is suing the University for the sum of $464 for wages lost as a result of being laid off. Green and Palmer, of Urbana, are the attorneys. The University Counsel has the matter in his hands. The case involves a test of certain regulations of the State Civil Service Commission, which the University has been trying to follow. No action was taken on this matter.

ALUMNI SECRETARY

(7) A request from Mr. Henry J. Burt, president of the Alumni Association of the University of Illinois, that the Trustees appropriate $5,000 to pay an alumni secretary whose duties would be largely devoted to the campaign for raising funds among the alumni to erect the Gregory Memorial Building. Mr. Trimble raised the question of the legality of such an appropriation and the matter was referred to the President of the University for further consideration.

T I T L E OF RANTOUL FARM

(8) A request from Dobbins and Dobbins, attorneys, of Champaign, that the Trustees adopt the following memorandum to quiet the title of a farm recently sold by the University to Molloy and Molloy. WHEREAS there has heretofore been sold on behalf of the Board of Trustees, and by its authority, to Jennie L. Molloy and Thomas F. Molloy, of Rantoul, Illinois, the following described real estate, formerly owned by this Board, namely: All that part of the North Half (%) of Sectiofl Twenty-three (23), Township Twenty-two (22) North, Range Nine (9), East of the Third Principal Meridian, which lies West of the right of way of the Illinois Central Railroad, being Two Hundred Fourteen (214) acres, more or less, for a consideration of Thirty-seven Thousand, Four Hundred Fifty Dollars ($37,45o) ; AND WHEREAS, the said consideration has been paid into the hands of the treasurer of said Board of Trustees and a deed conveying the lands above described to the said purchasers has been executed in the name of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, by W. L. Abbott, President, and H. E. Cunningham, Secretary of said Board, with the seal of said University of Illinois thereto affixed, which said deed was duly acknowledged o» the 1.3th day of August, A.
