for * the University Senate, voted to recommend' to the Board of Trustees that masters' degrees b e conferred at the close of the summer session upon the following students, provided > they successfully complete by that time all the* requirements for the degree: Kichijiro Kumano, A. M., Education. Orla Alamon Towns, A, M., History. At the same meeting the Council^ acting for the Senate, voted to recommend: the amendment of the regulations providing, for the granting of degrees at other times than in June which were approved bj; the Trustees on December 14, 1916,, page 181, by inserting in the second paragraph the words "and master'" aiter the word "bachelors'," giving the following reading forrthe paragraph as amended: "That students who; are to: complete their work for the bachelors' and musters' degrees in the summer session, and who register in advance of the June meeting: of the Senate? for specified courses- in that session which complete the requirements in their cases,: may be; recommended at the June meeting, subject to the successful completion of the specified courses in the summer session."1 Sincerely yours,

(10) A certified copy of the appropriation bill for the two years beginning Jury 1, 1917: An Act making appropriations for the'•University of Illinois. Section 1. Be it enacted by Me People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly: That there be and is hereby appropriated to the University of Illinois for the two years beginning July 1, 1917, and until the expiration of the first fiscal quarter after the adjournment of the next General Assembly, the sum of four million, eight hundred thousand ($4,800,000) dollars, payable only out of money paid into the State Treasury arid set apart as a fund for the use and maintenance of the University of Illinois, in accordance with an Act entitled: "An Act to provide by a state tax for a fund for the support arid maintenance of the University of Illinois," approved June 10, 1911, in force July 1, 1911, payable as follows: For Salaries and Wages $2,950,000.00 For Departmental Office Expenses 100,000.00 For Traveling Expenses 50,000.00 For Operating Supplies and Expenses 125,000.00 For School Supplies 415,000.00 For Repairs on Present Buildings, Grounds and Equipment 110,000.00 For Equipment 300,000.00 For Buildings ...,......:....,.. ,.. , 5oo;ooo.oo
