brating the Semi-centennial of its opening next autumn, and had voted unanimously to continue the preparations for the celebration, which will be a part of the centennial celebration of the State.

I desire to make the following supplementary nominations for the faculty of the Summer Session of 1917. Certain positions were provided for but no names inserted in the budget submitted on March 17. A few declinations and resignations have taken place and I desire to make provision for these positions. Botany: William E. Pickler, Assistant Chemistry: , $100

H a r r y C. Kremers, Assistant (vice instructorship left vacant) , 200 Ralph E . Rindfusz, Assistant (vice Howell, resigned) 100 Education: L. R. Geissler, Assistant Professor, Clark College, Worcester, Mass. In place of professorship ($500) left vacant , 3°o I. M. Allen, Assistant Principal, High School, Springfield, 111. (vice Newlin, resigned) * 100 Manual Training: James M. Duncan, Assistant < 175 Physics: Sebastian Karrer, Assistant (vice W . H. Hyslop, resigned to enter aviation service) 200 Taken as a whole, these nominations result in a decrease in the salary budget as proposed in March. It does not seem safe to leave any of the positions vacant, even though we may be sure that the registration in the Summer Session will fall off somewhat. Very truly yours,
