completed the requirements for graduation in the College of Agriculture; and that the President of the University be authorized to confer the degree immediately. This is the first case under the new rule of the Board authorizing the conferring of degrees at other times than in June. (See page 181.)

On motion of Mr. Can*, this recommendation was approved.

RESIGNATION OF ASSISTANT PROFESSOR WEBER (19) Assistant Professor PL C. P. Weber of the department of chemistry presented his resignation with a request that it be accepted to enable him to take a^ research position in Pittsburgh. I recommend that Doctor Weber's resignation be accepted, to take effect February 28, 1917, with permission to leave the University January 31, 1917.

On motion of Mr. Hoit, this recommendation was approved.

LECTURES IN MILITARY HYGIENE (20) A recommendation from Dr. D. A. K. Steele, Senior Dean of the College of Medicine, that a course of sixteen lectures on Military H y giene, Military Surgery, and Medical Department Administration, be added to the curriculum of the College of Medicine for the year 1916-17; and that the W a r Department be requested to detail a medical officer to give the course. This course is to be given to senior students.

On motion of Mrs. Evans, this course was authorized.

INSURANCE ON PHARMACY BUILDINGS (21) A statement from Mr. Lloyd Morey, Acting Comptroller, concerning the insurance on the Pharmacy buildings, showing that there is $67,000 insurance on the buildings and $20,000 on the equipment, with a total premium of $702.50; this premium is reduced to $514.85 by a credit on unexpired policies amounting to $187.65.

This statement was received for record.

BILL OF W. LEWIS & CO. (22) A recommendation from the Comptroller that a bill for $124.34, presented by W. Lewis & Company of Champaign, Illinois, be paid. W. Lewis & Company had a fire in their shop in March, 1915, in which the entire records of the concern up to February 1, 1915, were destroyed. They are not able, therefore, to present positive evidence as to the accuracy of these claims, but it is the Comptroller's opinion that the goods covered by this bill were received by the University and have not been paid for.

On motion of Mr. Carr, the President of the University was authorized to direct the payment of this claim. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henroiin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Taggart, Mr. Ward; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Lowden, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson,
