On motion of Mrs. Henrotin, this matter was referred to the Finance Committee with power to act.

APPOINTMENTS BY PRESIDENT JAMES.

The Secretary presented for record the following list of appointments made by the President of the University:

Booth, H. T., Assistant in Physics for ten months beginning September 1, 1916, at a salary of seventy-five dollars ($75) a month. (June 7, 1916.)* Gibson, Helen E., Secretary in the Department of Dairy Husbandry, at a salary of sixty-five dollars ($65) a month, beginning July 1, 1916, or as soon thereafter as she may report for duty, and continuing until further notice, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission. (June- 1, 1916.) Lillethun, Myrtle, stenographer in the Registrar's Office, at a salary of fifty dollars ($50) a month, beginning May 17, 1916, and continuing until further notice, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission. (May 1, 1916.) Nelson, R. A., Assistant in Physics, on part time, for ten months beginning September 1, 1916, at a salary of fifty dollars ($50) a month. (June 7, 1916.) Newman, Margaret, University Stenographer, Rank I, in the Library, at a salary of forty dollars ($40) a month, beginning June 1, 1916, or as soon thereafter as she may report for duty, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission. (June 5, 1916.) Pike, C. E., Assistant in Physics, on part time, for ten months beginning September 1, 1916, at a salary of fifty dollars ($50) a month. (June 7, 1916.) Quick, R. S., Research Fellow in the Engineering Experiment Station, for two years beginning September 1, 1916, with a stipend of five hundred dollars ($500) a year. (June 2, 1916.) Shewhart, W. A., Assistant in Physics, for ten months beginning September 1, 1916, at a salary of eighty dollars ($80) a month. (June 7, 1916.) Teare, J. L., Scholar in Political ^Science, for ten months beginning September 1, 1916, with a stipendium of twenty-five dollars ($25) a month. (June 6, 1916.) LIST OF DEGREES CONFERRED.
