UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

COMMITTEE ON COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, SEPTEMBER 7, 1915. A meeting of the Committee on the College of Medicine and School of Pharmacy was held in the office of Mr. W. L. Abbott, in Chicago, on Tuesday, September 7, 1915. All the members of the committee were present; namely, Mrs. Laura B. Evans, Chairman, Mr. W. L. Abbott, and Mr. O. W. Hoit. President James, Acting Dean W. B. Day, and Mr. Alexander Prussing, of the firm of McKey and Poague, were present.

S I T E FOR SCHOOL OF PHARMACY.

President James presented a letter from Mr. Alexander Prussing, dated July 15, 1915, saying that in all probability certain property could be acquired by the purchase of the master's certificate which was issued a t the time of the foreclosure of a mortgage on the property. The mortgage amounts to something like twenty thousand dollars. This is the property which has been recommended to the Board of Trustees as a suitable one for housing the School of Pharmacy. Messrs. Abbott and Hoit examined the property on occasion of the previous meeting of the Committee on the College of Medicine held a t Hotel La Salle, on Tuesday, August 17, 1915. A letter was presented from Prof. J. M. White, expressing his opinion as to the condition of the building, and also a copy of a letter from Mr. N. Rooneberg, Industrial Engineer, concerning the structural condition of the building, in which he states that he found the building throughout in a good state of preservation. After full consideration of the subject, on motion of Mr. Hoit, the committee recommended the purchase of this property if it can be bought for what the Board of Trustees would consider a reasonable figure. MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT JAMES. The President of the University presented the following matters for consideration:

MORTGAGE, C O L L E G E OF M E D I C I N E .

(1) A statement concerning the extension of the mortgage for $56,000 held on the College of Medicine property by the Board of Education of Chicago. No action was taken concerning this matter.

(2) A letter from Mr. Alexander. Prussing concerning the purchase of a site for the School of Pharmacy, and a statement concerning other property that might be available. No action was taken in this matter.

WOMEN'S RESIDENCE HALL.

(3) A statement concerning the plans for the Women's Residence Hall. Miss Martha J. Kyle, Acting Dean of Women, addressed the board concerning certain detailed changes in the plans. Mr. H. D. Oberdorfer addressed the board concerning the possible changes that might be required by building-line. restrictions obtaining on Nevada Street. It was the opinion of the members of the board that the depth of the building should not be lessened.

(4) A protest signed by certain property owners on Lincoln Avenue in TJrbana against the proposed location of an extension of the street railway southward on •Lincoln Avenue [pages 246, 285]. No action was taken in this matter.

N O M I N A T I O N FOR BOARD OF E X A M I N E R S I N ACCOUNTANCY.

(5) The nomination of Mr. Nathan William MacChesney, of Chicago, for membership on the Board of Examiners in Accountancy for three years ending June 30, 1918, in place of Mr. Marquis Baton, whose term has expired. No action was taken on this matter.

A M E R I C A N G A M E P R O T E C T I V E ASSOCIATION.

(6) A request from the American Game Protective Association that the University join them in furtherance of the work for the protection of game birds. No action was taken on this matter.
