MEETING OF JANUARY 22, 1915.

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in the Trustees' Room, at the University, in Urbana, at 9.00 a. m., on Friday, January 22, 1915, pursuant to the following notice which 'was sent out by the Secretary on January 16, 1915:

Upon the call of the President, Mr. W.. L. Abbott, *-there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois on Friday, January 22, 1915, in the Trustees' Room, at the University, at Urbana, beginning- a t 9.00 a. m., to consider such business as the President of the University and the committees of the board may present.

When the board convened, the following members were present: President Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson. Mr. James K. Hopkins, the new President of the State Board of Agriculture, was present and took his seat with the Board of Trustees as a member ex officio. Mr. Robert F. Carr and Mr. Robert R. Ward, members elect, were present by invitation and sat with the board during the entire day. President James was present.

NEEDS OF DEPARTMENTS PRESENTED.

The regular order of business was suspended, and President James introduced the following members of the Faculty of the University, who presented, in the order in which their names appear, the needs of their respective colleges and departments for the coming biennium: Dean K. C. Babcock, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Prof. W. A. Noyes, the Department of Chemistry; Prof. W. C. Bagley, the Department of Education and the School of Education; Prof. S. P. Sherman, the Department of English; Prof. William Trelease, the Department of Botany; Dean Eugene Davenport, the College of Agriculture; Prof. F. H. Rankin, the Department of Agricultural Extension; Prof. H. A. Harding, the Department of Dairy Husbandry; Prof. Isabel Bevier, the Department of Household Science; Prof. C. G. Hopkins, the Department of Agronomy. At this point, the board took a recess, for luncheon, at 12.15 p. m. Afternoon Session. When the board reconvened after luncheon, the same members were present as during the morning session.

, PRESENTATION* OF DEPARTMENTAL NEEDS CONTINUED.

The presentation of departmental needs was continued in the following order: Dean C. R. Richards, the College of Engineering and the Engineering Experiment Station; Prof. I. O. Baker, the Department of Civil Engineering; Dean David Kinley, the Courses in Commerce and the Graduate School; Prof. E. B. Greene, and Librarian P. L. Windsor, the Library; Dean O. A. Harker, the College of Law; Director J. L. Erb, the School of Music; Assistant Librarian F. K. W. Drury, the Campus Theater; Prof. A. S. Pease, the Museum of Classical Art and Archeology; Maj. F. D. Webster, the Depart, nient of Military Science; Director G. A. Huff, the Department of Physical

APPROVAL OF MINUTES.

The Secretary presented the minutes of the quarterly meeting of December 8, 1914. On motion of Mrs. Evans, the minutes were approved as printed above on pages 156 to 167, inclusive. 168
