The board took a recess at 1.15 for luncheon. During the recess, Governor Dunne and Miss Watson joined the members of the board.

SETTLEMENT OF SUIT OF MISS BREE KELLY.

President Abbott reported that Miss Bree Kelly had obtained judgment of $750 and costs in a suit against the College of Physicians and Surgeons. This suit, which was for personal injuries claimed to have been caused by falling on an icy sidewalk, was tried in the Superior Court of Cook County, at the term beginning on the first Monday in July, 1914. Judge Harker stated that Miss Kelly had expressed her willingness to accept an immediate settlement of $500. On motion of Governor Dunne, the Comptroller of the University was authorized to settle this suit for the sum of five hundred dollars ($500). The appropriation involved was made by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Dunne, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Moore, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Trevett.

RELEASE OF HELLER MORTGAGE.

Judge Harker reported that the release of the Heller mortgage which was authorized by the board on December 19, 1912 (see report 1914, p. 146), had not been executed properly, and requested that the officers of the board be authorized to execute a new release. _ On motion of Governor Dunne, the officers of the board were authorized to execute a release of the Heller mortgage deed of the date of April 9, 1870, and recorded in Book S, page 257, in the office of the Recorder of Champaign County. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Dunne, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Moore, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Trevett. The board adjourned.
